About
Betta Santini

With its transparent, fragile, and malleable appearance, the seduction of glass marked Betta Santini, a contemporary multimedia artist, and Kiln-Formed Glass Designer, from very early on.

In his bright, neatly organized workshop, the pieces acquire volumes and shapes after being macerated for a long time as an idea. Undoubtedly strongly influenced by the strength of the female figures in her family grandmother and mother, her works question us about the norms and behaviors that govern women, the challenges they face throughout their lives, and the burden emotional that this implies.

This is a work that transmits mixed emotions, that creates identification and rejection, and questions and moves us. They are pieces of great symbolic force, which can be luminous and hopeful or of a threatening beauty due to the use of edges and blades.

The collection What do you bring in your purse? offers us pieces that explore the female psyche. The handbags as a symbolic representation of that internal world suggest secret stories of damage and suffering, of everything that the woman hides, of what she is silent about.

It also explores the duality that the female body represents, in particular the breasts, sacralized by motherhood and at the same time stigmatized by the erotic charge attributed to them.

Betta Santini is an artist determined to give voice to female silence. In making the flame of discomfort visible. His highly aesthetic work manages to contrast the fragility of glass with the emotional forcefulness of the pieces.
